FAQ

Sundays

The service usually begins with a greeting and a song. The lyrics can be found in the booklet, along with all the other words that will be said during the service. We will read from the Bible, say prayers together, and then listen to a reflection on the readings (called a sermon) and how it may apply to our individual lives and community. This is followed by prayer and an opportunity to greet one another.  We then share Holy Communion (aka Eucharist). At St. Albans all are invited to participate in communion! If you are not comfortable receiving communion, you are still most welcome to come forward for a blessing.

Our address says we are on King Edward Ave, however our main entrance is actually on Daly Ave.  Look for the bright red door: give it a good tug because it’s heavy, and come on in!

Those of us who are parents appreciate and remember the challenge to keep kids quiet during church services. At St. Albans you will find we are pretty good at rolling with things – a child coming up to the front, making some noise is not a concern and part of the reality of being an inter-generational community. If you have any additional concerns or questions the Care Team members and Rev. Michael are available to answer questions.

We have several options for kids during the service. We have a nursery space for kids 0-3 and their parents if they need a more private space to hang out.

For kids 3-9 we have activity bags and space for them to be in the service and participate or a room for them to work on their activities.

For where to park, Parkopedia provides a comprehensive list of options.

When you arrive you will be greeted by one of our “Care Team” who will provide you with a Worship Booklet that will guide you through the service.  They will also invite you to grab a drink/snack and will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

You are welcome to sit wherever you feel most comfortable.

We are a very casual group of people and would love to welcome you in whatever you find comfortable to wear.

The congregation of St Albans takes full responsibility for the financial operation of the church. Therefore, those who are able, give faithfully to meet the ongoing obligations of the Parish.

We do not expect newcomers or those facing financial hardship to contribute financially. We also do not “take up an offering” during the service. Rather, most supporters give via pre-authorized or electronic means. There is also a small area in the church where people can place an offering during the service if they wish.

St. Albans has an amazing youth group. We call it Liturgy Club because they actively participate in shaping several important services throughout the year. Liturgy club meets every second Friday week starting in September from 630-830pm. For more information please reach out to Rev. Michael.

We have several groups that meet during the week. We have a Wednesday morning Bible Study, a Wednesday Evening book club, a few small groups that meet weekly or biweekly and are also looking to expand how we gather outside of Sunday morning. Marriage is a gift of God and a means of God’s grace. This union of two people is intended for their mutual comfort and help, that they may know each other with delight and tenderness in acts of love. The Anglican Diocese of Ottawa is proud to solemnize marriage of any two people, regardless of sex, gender, or sexual orientation.

If you are interested in baptism for yourself or your child, please contact revmichael@stalbanschurch.ca.
