Nov. 28 – Advent Begins

This Sunday is the first of Advent, the start of our journey through the gospel with St. Luke, and the beginning of the Christian New Year!

This Sunday’s in-person worship service is full, but there’s always room for everyone online live at 10 am via Facebook and YouTube. We’re working on ways to get more folks safely in worship, so stay tuned.

God and the Pandemic

A Book Study for Advent 

Please join the Rev. Caz Ducros in an Advent series of discussions on the book God in the Pandemic: A Christian Reflection on the Coronavirus by N.T. Wright, 2020. In it Wright asks us to set aside fear and blame and focus instead on how God is revealed, how as Christians, we are to respond, how we recover, and most importantly, how our faith guides our way into the future. 

Advent in Year C of our lectionary begins with apocalyptic readings; in this sense, Wright’s book is an excellent study for Advent because the pandemic has felt apocalyptic to many of us, and yet, it follows the Gospel message to not reside in the end of the world, but rather to examine what renewal looks like … to seek hope in the darkness, to look toward the birth of Christ.

This Advent study will take place on Zoom, on Thursdays from Dec. 2 to Dec. 16. Rev. Caz will convene the Dec. 2 and Dec. 16 sessions and another of the book study members will convene on the Dec. 9.
